Kidding aside.if insulation is also part of the job you will have to clean up and replace that detail first. before you do anything, take some of that good rock wool and dump it down your collar. If your plaster walls get cracks, dents or holes, consider repairing the plaster rather than replacing them. Protect the floor, the ceiling light, keep the dust down, under fill your joints. Work the math on the amount of recess 3/4 (ply) + 1/4 (metal lathe)+ 1/2"(structo)+ 1/8 (topping)= something like 1 5/8" to 2" blocking recess. I might sand the surrounding area and skim an additional 25-50% larger area to blend it it. There might be 1/16 to 1/8" underfill to allow hot" setting compound or topping compound (or both) I would consider clamping and screwing blocking around the perimeterīut.what is the setback depth of the blocking that the plywood attaches to?Ī layer of metal lathe (figure 1/4-5/16" thickness)Īnd a layer of structolite 3/8 to 1/2 inch maybe a tad more If you hammer or shake the ceiling you will extend the damage. You want to avoid shocking the plaster with hammer blows, heavy vibration like a sawzall shaking the ceiling. I would use a multitool and or diamond cutter to do the removal. make sure you remove enough the damage may go further than you can see. If those are broken, even though they may be flush there is not much holding the ceiling up. The keyways often crack where the plaster mushes past the wooden lathing. If it could be due to joist movement, it might not be a bad time to add some blocking to rigidify the joists and take out flex.īefore adding anything I would remove ANY loose barely cracked mortar. I've seen latex paint bubble from exterior leaking over plaster walls.fix the leak.problem aster lives another day.įirst, why did it crack? If it was water related make sure that issue is taken care of. Beats the sh!^ out of drywall in every category. I love it's durability, character, and hand-worked beauty. I try to sell plaster over drywall to all my clients. He scraped like 7 layers of old wallpaper off that wall in a few hours. We did a faded-yellow tinted plaster on the two story wall in my entry/stairwell in one shot. A real character, and an absolute machine of a human being. Then, I got lucky and met a great irish-italian plaster guy from Buffalo who did all the plaster work in my house (after I did the repairs like I mentioned above). I think good plaster work and the materials that go with it are a fading art. I had to search for a day to find Structo-lite (perlited-gypsum for filling large gaps and holes.you may need that at some point too). I have seen the same thing since moving to a VERY historic area in VA. I bet you could get away with that, but you should be able to find veneer plaster. Back in the day we used to mix Plaster of Paris in with green label and some water for our final skim coats too make em smooth and fast-setting. If you try to download the new Microsoft Edge on a Windows Server today, this is what’s likely to happen. If you want to learn whether you should be using the new Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome as your default browser on your computer, check out my article Should You Replace Google Chrome with Microsoft Edge as Your Default Browser? Downloading Edge Using Internet Explorer (Not Supported on WS2019) If you need to manually download a Windows Update for Windows Server, you should use a Windows 10 workstation to download the Windows Update and then copy the file to the server. The instructions in this article are provided for situations where you must use the web browser on your Windows Server to access the Internet. It can potentially expose not only your server but possibly the entire network to cyberattacks. However, if you don’t have the new Microsoft Edge, I recommend you update your web browser to the new Edge as soon as possible on every Windows computer….Windows 10 clients and Windows Servers.ĬAUTION!For security reasons, I don’t recommend surfing the web on a Windows Server. Unless you have disabled automatic updates, you may already have the new chromium-based Microsoft Edge installed on your computer. Internet Explorer will officially retire on June 15, 2022. Fortunately, the current version 11 will be the last version of Internet Explorer and the world will be a better place without it. You probably know by now that Internet Explorer, although supported, is not recommended by Microsoft. My kid was 2 when he started reading phonetically (having learned all letters and sounds when he was 1). However, children need to be able to sit down and do math, period. We don't do all of the math bc I have an eng background and know 80 probs a night is not necessary. I really don't know where you worked but I challenged it and my Kumon owner was responsive and modified the strategies and approach. The sad part is the parents felt like they were doing god's work by paying $200 a month for this crap. The whole system's intention is to turn your youth into accepting robots that can't speak out. The schooling produces calculating machines based upon repetition (the most basic form of mind control) and even the english department was such a joke that they were taught and supervised by inept adults and teens that thought being a grammar nazi was the end-all of the subject.Īnd throughout my 4 years of working and many more years of being a half-assed student there, I can not mention once instance where a student nor parent questioned the system or anything along those lines. I saw so many gifted children being forced into small boxes of thought processes, and if they excelled at it they were just given more small boxes to compute in.Īside from the homework which no one can take seriously or be enthusiastic about, many students would come in, sit down and do their in-class work within 30 minutes, walk up to a correction officer (lol) turn their papers in, go back to their seat, and do corrections of their previous homework (man it hurts just typing this) all while being COMPLETELY SILENT. Like nana053 mentioned, kumon is downright "boring and rote." This probably won't be considered helpful to you but I used to tutor and correct in kumon centers back in high school. |
